Design and Development of Solar Powered Bicycle

In present scenario a Solar Hybrid Bicycle system will help to solve the major problems of fuel and pollution. There is no doubt that the emission of carbon-dioxide from an automobile exhaust is a concern for the increasing rate of global warming. The fuel prices in india and around the world is increasing day by day thus there is a tremendous need to search for an alternative to conserve these natural resources.

Solar Powered Hybrid Bicycle

Working Model of Solar Powered Hybrid Bicycle

  • A Solar bicycle is a bicycle which runs using the electrical energy of battery to run motor which ultimately runs the bicycle. Solar energy is used to charge the battery. Two or more photovoltaic cells may be used to harness solar energy to generate voltage to charge the battery. Our project is published many of the newspapers.
  • Our main intention about making this project is to reduce the human effort of school going students who are live in area which is far away from school. by these we can reduce the physical effort and thus by increasing efficiency and concentration in class.
  • In minimum cost we design the bicycle which is less costly for poor families so they can easily afford.

• Advantages-

1. It is environmental friendly with no use of any fuels or release of toxic fumes that may cause global warming.
2. Solar cells are independent form a power source and can charge constantly which helps lower time to charge.
3. It also has a long life span of at least 10 years and requires little maintenance.
4. Normal pedaling is Possible when not on power assist mode.
5. Thumb throttle- simple to operate and less strain on hands.

• Dis-advantages-

1. Price of motor, battery and solar panels increases with the increase in energy demand of consumer.
2. Sunlight is not always available, especially at night and may not be evenly distributed where you are located.
3. Solar cell cannot always provide the sufficient amount of power so they cannot used as primary source of charging.
